Easily design and share comic strips using one of the many templates available from Adobe Express. Select any shared templates on the home page to begin, or sign in to your Adobe Express account and select comic strips from the template options. Searching through the templates is most accessible by viewing only free designs. After choosing a template, use the dashboard to add and modify the contents of the comic strip. Options include changing backgrounds, adding text and images, adding shapes, and much more. When finished, download your design as a JPG, PNG, or PDF document. Then, use the publish option to create a link, share to Google Classroom or Teams, or choose from other social media sharing options.
In the Classroom
Engage students by using the templates to display the day's vocabulary word, the math puzzle of the week, or a concept your students are learning in social studies or science, for example. Have students create comic strips for dialog-writing lessons, summarizing, predicting, and retelling stories. Use comic strips for literature responses. For pre-reading students, create a comic of pictures and tell the story based on the pictures/scenes. It's a good idea to require students to create a rough draft of their comic using Printable Comic Strip Templates, reviewed here. Make a class book of the comics created throughout the year. That book is likely to become a class favorite! Use comics to show the sequencing of events. For example, when studying characterization, they create a dialog to show (not tell) about a character. World language and ENL/ESL teachers can assign students to create dialog strips as an alternative to a formal assessment. You may want to complete some of the selections with a projector and your interactive whiteboard for the whole class as there are listening activities, reading activities and quizzes about holidays, etc. You could differentiate by having small groups of students or individuals listening and reading at their different levels while you work with another group, or small groups of students can listen at a station that is one of several literacy stations in your classroom. Since each of the selections has activities in several language arts strands, one selection could make up your student's instruction for the day, or week. DesignCap provides a quick and easy infographic maker for you to use. No expertise in graphic design is necessary. First, create an account with Google, Facebook, or your email. Next, choose "Infographic" from the left menu. You can then choose the format of infographic you wish to create, such as Process, Timeline, Health, and several others. Once you have the format you want, choose "Customize." You can select a different font and size, upload images from your computer or their library, change the background, and more. When finished, save your infographic to work on or view later or download it to your computer.

Introduce DesignCap's infographic templates found on the left menu. Ask students to select one that appeals to them, and then create one as a class for a concept you just learned or as a review for a test. Show on your whiteboard or with a projector how to select a template or create your own, where to find the image library, and how to upload your own images. Once the class has saved the infographic, you can have them create infographics on their own to include in multimedia reports, as a book report, as a study aid for a test, or to show what they've learned from a unit of study. This site has a number of current magazines available online including Forbes, Scientific American, Men's Health, and countless others, organized by category. Many could be used for educational purposes (see the Science & Learning section, for example). Other general topics include Arts, Business, Computers, News, Sports, and more. Besides regular magazines, there are a number of columns and blogs by famous people. A few magazines, such as Forbes and Scientific American, display feature article titles when you click on their names, but most open to the magazine home page in a new window.
In the Classroom
For ESL/ELL students, use magazines at this site to teach vocabulary and American culture. For current events classes, display the latest news online on your projector or interactive whiteboard, finding it quickly with just a few clicks. Have groups explore current news headlines and compare coverage or create their own videos (news or infomercials) using a site such as Teachers.TV reviewed here. This may also be a link that you would want to list on your class website for both students and parents to use at home. If you require current events article summaries each week, your students can use this site to find the latest at no cost. Generate any image you can describe with text using the online image generator from Canva, reviewed here. Canva employs three tools (apps) to generate images - Magic Media, Dall-E by Open AI, and Imagen by Google Cloud. Begin by selecting the link to generate images, then select the tool of your choice. Magic Media is built into Canva's design tools and is accessible when creating a design. Dall-E generates realistic images and art; Imagen turns text into photorealistic images. Use Dall-E or Imagen in an existing design or create a new one. After selecting an app, add a text description of the image to generate, including as much detail as possible. Continue revising your text until you are satisfied with the image, then add filters, effects, or other elements available from Canva's library to complete your image. Follow the directions to add your image to your Canva library, include it in a presentation, or share it directly with any supported platforms.

Use Canva's image generator for any number of classroom uses to encourage creativity and bring any idea to life instantly! Teach students to use descriptive language in writing to bring characters and settings to life. Generate images of historical characters to help students visualize historical events or places. This is a nice interactive way for kids to practice vocabulary and basics in chemistry, math, art history, geography, and world languages. Subjects available (via the link in the page footer)include checmical symbols, world language and English vocabulary, multiplication, world countries on a map, capitals, and famous paintings. Read the FAQ to find out where the money comes from and more.

Reminiscent of The Reader's Digest "Enrich Your Word Power" feature, this is a great little time filler, especially for those students who always seem to be ahead of the rest of the class. They can challenge themselves to better their "level" as gauged by the site. They can challenge each other to see who will give the most grains of rice in any given session. If your class has a vocabulary glossary wiki, this site will provide many new entry ideas! They will need to be downloaded, so beware that your school's security may not allow this. Another option is to download the sounds at home onto a stick to bring to the classroom. Don't let the "geek speak" of some of the "blog posts" on the site intimidate you. Just click "search" on the left to find what you want. These sounds are licensed under Creative Commons, which means you may use them in PowerPoint shows and other multimedia as long as you GIVE CREDIT ("attribution"). See the link for "Rules" for downloaded sounds. Model ethical use of resources by viewing this together with your students, even little ones.

Discover a large collection of free to use images for presentations, slide shows, reports, and more at Free Tiiu Pix. The creator of this site designed all images available. Go to the image gallery to browse images sorted by categories. The categories range from Architecture, Food, Animals, Insects, Plants and more. Right click to save images or choose optional links for different resolution sizes. In addition to the image gallery, be sure to check out the slide presentation gallery including visually appealing PowerPoint presentations on many topics. From the Clip Art Gallery (with free clip art to use) there is also a link to Learn How to Draw Your Own Clip Art. These are FREE to use. However, be sure to read and understand the Terms of Use! Note: you must be 18 to use this site. So while this is an excellent site for teachers to find resources, this shouldn't be shared with students to use independently.

In the Classroom
Your students will thoroughly enjoy practicing their keyboarding using some of these fun-filled space themed activities. Want to know how your students are doing with typing? Then give them one of the typing tests. You can choose the passage and the length of time they have to complete it. If you want a record of their results, have them take the certificate test. When students have finished have them use the typing lesson section to practice letters that need more work. In addition, place on classroom computers and have students use after they finish classwork or use as a center for small groups of students. Convert and download YouTube videos to any device using the Free Video Downloader Online. First, find and copy the video link on the URL of your web browser (this is different than copying the link to share - you want to see the word "watch" in the link you copy). Next, click download to begin saving to your device, then choose from many different options for the type and size of the file to download. Additional download options include saving as an MP3, JPG thumbnail, or caption. For the final step, a preview will appear after selecting an option for download; pick the three dots in the video preview and choose the option to download. Then, view the download videos on your current media player, such as QuickTime.
In the Classroom
Many schools and districts block YouTube; use this resource to download videos for classroom viewing. Share videos on classroom devices for students to view anytime, even when Internet access is unavailable. Use this tool to download and save videos you wish to show students, especially if they are blocked at school.
