Create and customize artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots in a secure, COPPA-compliant setting with Mizou. Customize chatbots using your materials, instructions, and rubrics and share them securely with students. Personalize the appearance as desired and include text, audio, and images. Receive instant feedback that identifies areas of students' strengths and weaknesses of the content. Mizou also offers a searchable library of content available to add to your workspace to use as is or to edit to fit your needs. Share chatbots with students by launching a new session and providing students with the URL or QR code. Students share their names to access the chat; directions and responses are available as text or audio.
In the Classroom
Use Mizou in many different ways to engage students in learning. For example, when teaching the novel 1984, use the chat in Mizou's library with George Orwell to engage in critical thinking activities that explore the themes and ties to the modern world shared in the novel. Use the chats to assist students in reviewing vocabulary by selecting the Spreadsheet Vocabulary Review chat and modifying the language to fit your needs. Search by grade level or topic to find options for almost any subject and topic. FindIcons.com is a search tool that helps you find free icons. Type your term in the search bar to view icons in FindIcons database. Choose from several different options to download icons in the file format desired, such as png. Convert to jpg, bmp, or several other file options. Each icon includes licensing information so you can look for icons that are Creative Commons or public domain. Create an account then make user sets of your favorite icons. Access your user sets from anywhere through the FindIcons website. Explore the TAGS button to find search ideas. Be aware: ANY word/term can be searched, some may not be appropriate for the classroom. If you plan to allow young people to use this site independently, be sure to discuss appropriate searching.

This short video creates a situation where it is necessary to choose synonyms to avoid using the same word repeated times. It goes on to explain how to use a conventional thesaurus. It uses the overly repeated word from the first situation to examine a thesaurus entry, and it explains how to know which group of thesaurus words to choose from. Although tv411 was originally created for English language learners (mainly adults), much of the content would be useful with secondary students. Preview the video before you share with your class.

MyBib is a bibliography and citation generator that offers many different citation styles. Use this simple tool to create and save citations for various resources, including websites, PDFs, and ISBN. Begin by selecting the type of resource from the options bar or drag a PDF onto the site. Follow the prompts that may ask for additional information. When finished, select the download option to copy and add to a document, choose from other options to print, add to Google Drive, and more. Creating an account is optional; however, it allows you to save your citations for future use. MyBib also offers a Chrome extension that creates citations directly from websites.
In the Classroom
Include this tool on all classroom computers and as a link on your class website for student use. This bibliography tool helps students properly format their Works Cited pages. Use this tool to help keep your students (or even yourself) organized! Make sure you teach plagiarism lessons about paraphrasing and proper citation of sources, so students use this tool properly! Take the drudgery out of writing formal papers by emphasizing thinking over mechanics. Whether teaching beginning research or seniors in high school, introduce them to MyBib. For younger students, seeing all the formatting and citing done correctly from the beginning makes sense, whether it is the body of the writing or the bibliography. With either age group, give lessons about each part of a paper or letter. Demonstrate on an interactive whiteboard (or with a projector) and think out loud as a group to pull together ideas, sources, quotes, and more to support an argument and build a paper. You can use it, too, when you write for your graduate program. Go Pangea is a website where students can connect and learn with others worldwide in a safe online community. Teachers and award-winning publishers have developed thousands of thought-provoking questions spanning various topics and subjects. These questions are accompanied by relevant videos and reading materials that assist students in responding thoroughly and meaningfully. Educators can take advantage of the extensive question bank by selecting existing questions to give to students or by creating their own original questions. The vast collection of assignable materials helps facilitate in-depth learning and discussion. Videos are linked to YouTube and Vimeo; check for access before using them in class or assigning them to students.
In the Classroom
The extensive, curriculum-connected questions allow teachers to integrate Go Pangea in diverse ways that promote critical thinking and active use of knowledge. Save time when creating presentations and choosing fonts by using Wordmark.it to preview what your exact words will look like. Simply type/paste in any words, and Wordmark.it scans the fonts on your computers, displaying the words in each and every font style you have. Adjust font size as desired to see changes or change to positive or negative space. This site helps find the perfect font for any use in no time at all! You no longer have to guess whether the capitals will look funny or the specific letters/words might be hard to read. Art teachers can use this to demonstrate design aspects of different fonts. Sign up using email and a password to save words if desired, but this isn't necessary for general use.

The Google suite of tools has accessibility features that will help you give all students the chance to show their best work. This session will introduce you to these features and show you how to use them to support all students--even those who don't have a documented need. As a result of this session, teachers will: 1. Learn basic accessibility features included in the Google suite of tools; 2. Explore instructional strategies that use these features; and 3. Plan for the use of Google's built-in accessibility features in your classroom. This session is appropriate for teachers at all technology levels.
