This engaging and versatile resource creates and rolls digital dice using various customization options. Use the plus sign to add up to 12 dice to your screen and roll to view random responses. Each die has a settings gear. Use this to change the color of the face, customize the number to one hundred, or add a custom face with a word of your choice. Save your favorite sets to find and use when you return to the Custom Dice Roller.
In the Classroom
Have fun in your classroom with virtual dice on your interactive whiteboard or projector. Use dice with young students just learning to count. Have students guess what number will "win." Use as an incentive and allow a student to roll the dice to meet a class goal. Set a goal of a large number, and every time a small goal is achieved, roll the dice and keep adding. Keep track until the class achieves the sum given. Practice basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division facts. Have team competitions and choose winners by even/odd, the greatest/least sum, greatest/least product, or quotient. Allow students to work in small groups to play the mathematical practice games. For larger digits, roll two dice simultaneously and get the greater number. Do the same to get double or triple-digit numbers. Encourage your students to practice at home and play against their parents. In older grades, study probability and chance. Use the data and create line plots or graphs in various forms using Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel. One of their main goals is to provide a resource for saving representations before losing them to the natural progression of time, disasters, or other unknown factors. View offerings by theme or project for 3D images, photographs, and in-depth information about the site. Within the theme link, use the timeline to view by period, or use the dropdown boxes to choose by culture or country. CyArk also includes many lesson plans based on principles used in creating the website.
In the Classroom
You and your students will love exploring the many areas from around the world on this fascinating site! Be sure to create a link on classroom computers and your class website for students to explore on their own. History and social studies teachers can partner with science and math teachers to present the lesson plans to students. This is a great site for computer teachers (and regular education teachers using computers in their classrooms) to share with their students and parents. Please review the "What Can Be Done" section with students. Cut and paste, then laminate the rules into small posters to be hung near all computers. Create a notebook of cyberbullying facts, and include the fact sheets at this site. Be sure to share the link with parents and your PTO/PTA, as well.

Solve Calculus and Algebra problems step by step using cym@ath's problem solver. Begin by choosing an action from the drop-down box: solve equation, simplify, or other choices. Then enter the problem. Problems automatically format as you enter them. Click Solve to view the step by step process to obtain the answer along with rules used, if applicable. Click on the rule to view an explanation and example. Scroll through links to all reference material. Never before has "solve for X" been so instantaneous! You can even copy a direct link to the solution to share it with others.

This site is perfect for use on your interactive whiteboard or projector. Use with practice problems or when comparing different processes for obtaining solutions. Create a link on classroom computers for students to use when checking work. Share a link on your class website for students to use at home. Have students provide their attempts at problem solving. Print the solution using cym@th. Have students share where they were stuck or having problems in finding a correct answer. How do you prevent this from becoming an instant homework "cheat"? Always start with actual word problems, not equations, so students must first generate their own equations. Require students to "show their work" on paper as they solve, including the explanation of each step. Even if they are copying from the web site, they are still copying down the explanations. If they use their own words, that will show comprehension. How else could you prevent using this tool as a "cheat"? Dance, Factors, Dance is a wonderful visual display of numbers and factors. The numbers begin at 0 and continue through 10,000. Each number displays as a visual image sorted by factors, or in one large group if prime. At the top of the screen, the actual digits show along with the factorization represented. For example, 10,000 displays as 5X5X5X5X2X2X2X2 with a beautiful star-like image. Speed up the dance or stop at any given point using icons (at the bottom of the page) or go backwards to watch numbers unfold.
In the Classroom
This is an excellent visualization tool for demonstrating factors and prime numbers. View as a class on your interactive whiteboard (or projector) and explore the different patterns displayed. Have students watch for patterns as numbers grow, or question what happens when numbers are odd or even. Have students explore the site on their own; then use as a journal prompt for students to discuss their exploration of numbers. Ask students how they visualize numbers in their own heads. You may be surprised to learn that some students have visual images of number concepts! Students will enjoy comparing their knowledge with students around the country and the world through the interactive quizzes on this site. Six subject categories are offered (math, civics, history, geography, science, and economics)at 3 different grade levels (4th, 8th, and 12th). You can also choose 5, 10, 15, or 20 questions. Upon completion of quizzes, scores are shown along with all correct answers. Questions are provided from Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS), Civic Education Study (CivEd) and National Assessment of Education Progress (NAEP) - all are institutes which are involved in assessing student achievement and performance. The questions are higher level, and many include diagrams and other visual aids.
In the Classroom
Introduce this site on your interactive whiteboard or projector as a pre-assessment for a new unit or as a mind bending class challenge. Reinforce and review lessons previously learned with your students. This is a terrific site during the run-up to high stakes testing. Use the questions as classroom conversation starters after taking the quizzes. Print out questions from the quizzes and provide your students with the correct answers and see if they can match them up with the questions. List this link on your class website for students to practice at home. Challenge small groups of students to create their own set of 5 questions about a current unit of study and create a multimedia presentation. Just the facts and lots of them! The World Bank offers an extensive array of data about the countries of the world. Sort either by country (from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe) or by topic (agriculture to urban development). Look at zoomable, color-coded maps, and analyze rankings by topic. The interface is simple and direct, so if you are just looking for a statistic, you will find it quickly and easily. If you are looking at masses of authentic data to analyze or compare, you'll find that too. Click to download data in several formats.
In the Classroom
Bookmark this site for student research, whether it be for individual country data or for comparative data by topic. Use the maps on an interactive whiteboard (or projector) to provide a visual representation of the data. This is a great source for authentic data for students to practice their analytic skills, or just to find out what the GDP of Antigua and Barbuda is. This is a resource that will see frequent use. Share it during math units on data, as well, so students have authentic numbers to "play with." Have them write their own data problems and questions for classmates to solve.
