The Daily 5 and CAFE are research-based frameworks for reading instruction in grades K-8. Educators can use these frameworks to assess, instruct and monitor student reading progress. But what tech tools should you use to facilitate that instruction? In this session, we'll share some cool tools that perfectly fit the framework. As a result of this session, teachers will: 1. Understand the five tasks required in the Daily 5 framework; 2. Explore tech tools that support the framework; and 3. Plan to use one of these tools in your instructional setting. This session is appropriate for teachers at all technology levels.

Together we will explore and plan for the use of forms to collect data, web resources to access data, spreadsheets to manipulate and graph data, and Google MyMaps to visualize data. Students from beginner to advanced can use these tools to visualize and connect math, science, and social studies concepts to concrete, real-world applications. Let's get students excited about learning and help them incorporate complex data literacy into their world view. This session is appropriate for teachers at all technology levels. Misinformation is rampant online. As educators, how can we prepare students to navigate this landscape? In this interactive workshop, participants will explore techniques for leveraging fake websites to build essential media literacy skills. Join us to explore this engaging approach to promoting digital citizenship and critical thinking. Leave equipped with practical strategies for developing media-savvy students through authentic learning experiences that incorporate analyzing fake websites. As a result of this session, teachers will: 1. Evaluate fake websites and identify specific indicators of misinformation, such as biased language, questionable sources, and misleading visuals. 2. Learn strategies for responsibly incorporating fake websites into instruction to foster critical thinking. 3. Plan to implement activities using fake websites in instruction. This session is appropriate for teachers at all technology levels.

Hexagonal Thinking can be both a metacognitive and collaborative strategy that helps students to construct knowledge. Students can use this strategy to organize concepts presented in class and determine how they are interrelated with concepts students have already grasped. Attend this session to learn about hexagonal thinking and how to use it in instruction. As a result of this session, teachers will: 1. Understand how hexagonal thinking supports knowledge construction; 2. Explore three ways to use hexagonal thinking in the classroom; and 3. Plan for the use of hexagonal thinking during instruction. This session is appropriate for teachers at all technology levels.

A learning bento is a creative project that showcases a student's understanding of a topic or a book using various objects and media. In this workshop, you will learn how to use learning bentos as summative assessments for your students by exploring examples and learning to design your own. You'll also learn how to use this assessment strategy to support the needs of diverse learners. As a result of this session, teachers will: 1. Collaborate on potential uses for learning bentos with other participants; 2. Design and create a learning bento project exemplar; and 3. Reflect on the benefits and challenges of using learning bentos as summative assessments. This session is appropriate for teachers at all technology levels.

EduProtocols are a set of structured lesson designs that enable teachers to deliver content and engage students in interactive learning experiences. This second session in our series will review EduProtocols and how they can be used in different subjects and grade levels. We'll also take a deeper dive by creating and planning to implement EduProtocols in the classroom. As a result of this session, teachers will: 1. Understand the purpose and benefits of using EduProtocols in the classroom; 2. Learn how to adapt EduProtocols for different subjects and grade levels; and 3. Practice designing EduProtocols for classroom implementation. This session is appropriate for teachers at all technology levels.

TeachersFirst Reading Treks are built using Google Maps to chronicle a character's journey over the course of a book. Each stop along the way adds to student comprehension as they explore the information, images, and videos embedded in the map. Use Reading Treks in your lessons to give your students context for the stories they are reading. As a result of this session, teachers will: 1. Understand how to use Reading Treks in the classroom; 2. Learn how Reading Treks are created; and 3. Plan a new Reading Trek you will create for your instructional setting. This session is appropriate for teachers at all technology levels.
