Turn any web page into a PDF document instantly with this incredibly easy tool! Simply type or copy and paste the url into the box and click the "P" button. Instantly the page converts to a PDF document and downloads to your computer for immediate use. Drag the site's bookmarklet onto your browser's toolbar for easy use at any time with any page.
In the Classroom
Use this site to print any web page without all of the headings and other extras that generally appear. Make print outs for students to practice highlighting and looking for main ideas in informational texts (especially if you do not have an interactive whiteboard to do this). Upload PDF's to your website for student use of single pages of websites instead of having students go through unneeded pages. Be sure to show students that you must make a note of the DATE when you made the pdf, since you should always include the "date accessed" in a project bibliography entry for a web site. Talk about "fair use" in making web page copies for temporary use as part of research or class activities vs copying web pages to hang them up as locker decorations! This may be a good site to share with parents via your website. (Help them save paper and print only what they need, not an entire website.)

Plan and build interactive presentations directly from your Google Drive! Share your presentation on a projector or interactive whiteboard. Your participants can contribute to your presentation using their own device! You and your students will find Pear Deck to take the stress out of presenting and following a presentation, reinforcing SEL (social-emotional learning). Simply install Pear Deck and go to your Google Drive. Next, click Create and choose the Pear Deck icon (in your Google Drive). An untitled Pear Deck file can be found in your drive. Click on "Untitled Pear Deck" and rename this file. To create slides, choose "Normal slide" for standard text slides that are not interactive. Add images and text blocks, and a title. Choose a "Draggable slide" to enter a question for input. Add a line or dot for participants to answer the question. Use the "Multiple Choice" slide to enter a question and answer choices. To present, click "Start Presenting." You can use the option to "Open Session Dashboard" and see all of the participants who joined the presentation. You can also choose "Open Projector View." While presenting, use the "Add a Question" tool to enter a last minute question. That can be as simple as a thumbs up or thumbs down choice to check on understanding. Make sure you "End Session" to save the results from the questions. The free account provides basic interactive questions and is especially good for formative and summative assessments and automatic graded answere. In the Classroom
Invite students to join. Students will not see your slides UNTIL you start the presentation. Use the presentation tools. Students' view of the presentation follows the changes you make. Be sure to become familiar with these tools before using the tools with students. As students join, their names appear in the dashboard view. Tools include Lock and Unlock Responses from students, Hide and Show Responses, Ask Again, and more. Answer the questions more than once if desired. Pear Deck maintains the results of both attempts.It may be a good idea to open both the Session Dashboard and the Projector View before using with the students. Keep each in separate tabs (or use a different device such as a tablet for one of these). Be sure to turn off student responses and lock responses UNTIL every student has responded (so students will not be swayed by other responses or change answers). With the draggable slide, insert an image that requires quick input such as where a basketball thrown at a hoop will land, where on a timeline image a specific event occurred, or where erosion would be deposited on a river bend picture. You might consider using Pear Deck as a check in or exit ticket using emojis for feelings or depth of understanding. This resource is invaluable for presenting questions for quick formative assessment of the content that students are to learn in any subject area!

Pear Deck, reviewed here, offers an innovative option for creating flashcards through their integration with Google, Merriam-Webster, and Gimkit. Begin by creating a vocabulary list using your list or adding words and definitions from the dictionary. Select "Play Flashcard Factory" to share with students when your list is complete. After logging in with a Google account, students use the provided link and access code to enter Flashcard Factory. After joining, the site assigns students a partner to work with to create example sentences and illustrations using the vocabulary terms. As a final product, the teacher selects from the flashcards created by students to create a class flashcard set. Print or share the completed set to Gimkit, reviewed here.

In the Classroom
Flashcard Factory is an excellent tool for both in-person and remote learning. Use this feature to create vocabulary lists for spelling, science terms, social studies events, etc. Differentiate learning by creating lists for different student abilities or interests. Because students are the creators, they are engaged and more motivated in the learning process. Extend learning by asking students to write short stories or create writing journals using the vocabulary words used in the flashcards. For example, search for vocabulary at Read Write Think, reviewed here, to find the lesson plan for My World of Lists: Building Vocabulary Lists. Pear Practice is a gamified learning experience that promotes collaborative learning and independent practice using tools provided by Pear Deck, reviewed here. Use Pear Practice to create learning experiences or choose from the large selection of activities in the practice sets. When creating a set, Pear Practice allows members to create multiple-choice, fill-in-the-blank, drawing, and drag-and-drop questions. Once a practice set is chosen, create an assignment for individual practice or start a live practice by choosing one of the game mode options. Options within live practice activities allow educators to set time limits for questions, allow guest students not in Pear Deck classrooms, and create random groups. Students join activities using the unique code or by sharing a link. When sharing as an assignment, specify a start and ending date and assign an accuracy goal for students to achieve. Students can retake the assignment as often as needed to meet the accuracy goal. Many activities in Pear Practice's public library correlate to Common Core Standards.
In the Classroom
Include Pear Practice as part of your ongoing practice and formative assessment activities. Browse the site's public library to find many activities for all grade levels and subjects, then edit questions to fit your needs. Use this feature to differentiate practice materials and games to accommodate the different needs of your students. Create sets that meet your specific needs as you become comfortable using Pear Practice. For example, generate practice sets for multilingual learners to learn vocabulary before beginning a new unit or make a set for students needing additional math facts practice. What a delightful tool to use for impromptu speeches in any class or improvisation in a drama class. Consider uploading images for your curriculum topic to Flickr, reviewed here, and creating a specific tag or tags for the images, and then use pechaflickr as a review tool. Pechaflickr can be a great lesson starter, particularly on those dreary days when kids don't want to work. For lower level kids, it is a brain exercise for such things as an alphabet game (which is more difficult than it first seems!). Explore the relationship between "Climate and penguins" that is geared to a variety of grade levels. In the Classroom
With younger students, share life among penguins and have the students make observations from the webcams. Read the journals of the research to identify characteristics of the penguins as well as life needs. Compare this information to other animals living in the same area. Discuss similar, different, and overlapping niches. Have cooperative learning groups create interactive Venn diagrams using an online tool such as Interactive Two Circle Venn Diagram (reviewed here).Create food chains and webs. Discuss how change in the environment can change the ability of the penguin to adapt. Students can use the activity "Penguins under pressure" to determine how environmental change affects them. As part of a classification unit, explore the similarities and differences with other types of birds. As students read through the information, encourage creation of their own journal for recording specific information. Use the glossary of penguin terms to create stories of penguin life. Penzu offers a FREE service to write journals or diaries online with exceptional privacy options. As an added benefit, you can add images or your own artwork as illustrations. There is a very short demo video on the home page. On Penzu you can keep everything completely private or share selective posts by email or URL. Perhaps share selections on a class wiki page? Don't have a wiki? See the TeachersFirst Wiki Walk-Through for practical management and safety tips for a class wiki. Note: Premium service is available, but this review is for the free version.
In the Classroom
A class journaling program has limitless possibilities. Engage students in discussions using a topic from current events, current social issues, independent reading, literature, and more. Any class using a journal can use Penzu. For example, science lab write ups or the problem of the week in math. Penzu can even be used for homework. Just think, no more lugging heavy boxes full of notebooks around! In language arts have students journal daily and harvest from their musings and ideas to create a short story or a poem. They can even use Penzu to develop their brainstorms and rough draft. For social studies classes, students can write posts and ideas about famous people or daily life in a time period being studied, then create a "diary" for the famous person in Bookemon, reviewed here or a poster using Genially, reviewed here about daily life. For either of these ideas, once they are ready to present a final project have them hare with their peers and others and possibly add other media. Perplexity is an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot assistant. Use Perplexity to ask questions in a conversational tone and assist with tasks. Perplexity offers several features that allow you to refine content to provide responses that meet students needs. For example, use the focus tool to narrow searches to academic publications, generate text without a web search, or narrow searches to information found on YouTube. Perplexity allows free members to upload a limited number of files daily for use in the chat. Use the CoPilot feature as an interactive assistant that asks clarifying questions to guide viewers toward the best response for their needs. CoPilot offers a limited number of daily uses when using a free account. Organize information provided in Perplexity within collections, including options to share and create with collaborators. Always verify responses for accuracy when using AI tools such as Perplexity.
In the Classroom
Use Perplexity to increase your productivity, create assessments, and as a resource for finding classroom resources and lessons. For example, ask Perplexity to share lesson ideas for upcoming topics. Include your grade level, subject and topic, standards, and the type of lessons you would like to find. The more specific you are with your prompt, the better the results will be. Quickly create exit tickets, quizzes, portfolio ideas, and more simply by chatting with Perplexity. Students learn about biology, ecology, health, and the environment through the studies of pests. Lesson Plans are divided into younger and older elementary students. Younger students' lesson plans include "Intro to Pests" and "Totally Termites." Older students include inquiry based activities such as "Termitology" and "Before They Were Pests." The site includes games and documents. Click on "Amazing Pests" to learn fun pest facts and view a dictionary of pests. View "Threats and Prevention" to learn about the damage that pests can cause and ways to prevent infestation and damage. Play fun Learning Games such as "Name That Pest," "The Pest Rangers," and "Archibald's Adventures." The audio is sure to get student attention.
Note: Students can also send a pest card by entering a recipient's name and email address as well as their own name and email address. Many district's have policies prohibiting students from using a personal email address. Additionally, they can sign up for newsletters which require parent authorization for those under 13. After selecting an image, choose the free download icon to select an image size from those offered or create a custom size, then download it to your device. Download videos from several formats, including SD, HD, and 4K UHD. Although attribution isn't required, providing credit is always appreciated. Create a free account to create collections and save favorite images and videos for easy use.

This tool is a great lesson plan resource for correlating art with other curricular areas! First, scroll down to Featured Resources, Resources by Subject Matter, or Resources by Grade Level. Curricular Areas include Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, STEAM, Social Justice, Critical Thinking, and several others. Click the resulting lessons to view a PDF that includes links to artwork images at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Common Core standards, and a detailed lesson plan.

This game-creation site is useful for almost any grade level from intermediate up to high school. The teacher creates the game appropriate to what the topic and level is. You do have to register, but it is free. Games are as simple as Hangman and go to more complex (but appealing for students) as TV-based game shows such as "Deal or no Deal" and "Who Wants to be a Millionaire." Some of the links and activities require Flash or Quicktime. You can get them from the TeachersFirst Toolbox page.. All of these are great tools for helping students study, as well as figure out how they learn best.
In the Classroom
The games created are interactive, so students can work individually, on teams, or on a class computer using an interactive whiteboard or projector. One of the best learning tools for kids is to have them create their OWN games, and this site allows them to do that easily. Use your own teacher account so you do not need student emails at school. Ideally, students can create games for either learning or review for their fellow classmates. Assign a small group of students to work with different game templates and then act as "host" of the game to quiz the rest of the class: an ideal review or way to present student research information an a topic and keep the "audience" engaged.Add your comments below (available only to members) | Become a Member

Use the sidebar tools to select the number of images, customize the image size, and add a border. Additional features offer the ability to choose from layout options, add text, and create memes. Use the "Add Images" link to upload images, then drag each photograph onto your design template. Move and size pictures as you wish or use the Auto Collage feature to place images, or select from templates to arrange automatically. Other features include a collage drop-down box to set your background using colors, gradients, your pictures, or images from PhotoCollage's library or Unsplash, reviewed here. When finished, choose from several different formats to save your collage or share directly to social media sites using links provided.
