Premiere Rush is an all in one app for creating, editing, and sharing videos. Download Premiere Rush and use it across any device. Access your work from anywhere with the site's cloud storage feature. Use your Adobe account to log in either on your computer or with the app for your mobile device. Create a project by importing video, images, or audio. Use the editing features to edit, add titles, transitions, and much more. Easily share finished projects using social media links. The free version offers three exports and up to 2GB storage. Be sure to check the system requirements necessary before attempting to install Premiere Rush on your computer.
In the Classroom
Share Premiere Rush with students to use as an editing option when creating videos for any topic. If students are old enough, let them create their own account to take advantage of the free offerings. Upload videos and images from student projects or field trips to create a video to share on your webpage. Instead of a traditional research project, offer students the option to transform their learning by using Premiere Rush (or another video editing tool) to create a multimedia project. Include videos created with Premiere Rush with other information using Sway, reviewed here. What can you learn when you embed a teacher with scientists in research groups? Plenty! PolarTREC chooses teachers and pairs them with scientific research groups in polar regions, which changes how they view and teach science. Use their journals and information to change how you and your students view science as well. Access a variety of polar-related resources that support the STEM classroom including videos recorded by the teachers and the research team. Read journals written by the teachers working with scientists in the Arctic and Antarctica that document their field experiences and research in science. Participate in live webinars where classes can hear from the teacher and scientists in real-time and ask questions. View teacher posted videos and lesson plans that can be used in the classroom. This site features a lot of different careers in science uncovered in the journal entries. If your district blocks YouTube, the videos may not be viewable.

Point out that much of science work does not take place in a lab and that many locations are pretty cool! Be sure to investigate the main page to find links to learning resources that include lessons and activities. Read teachers' journals in the "virtual base camp" and learn about their polar expeditions. "Join" the expeditions to find web events you or your students can join in as well as read the teacher journal. Be sure to register for the free events using PolarConnect. Find quick links on the main page to recent journal updates and news. Groups of students can view various journals of an expedition to identify the different jobs that make up the whole of a research team. Use this information to research careers and identify the possible ways that a science education is helpful for many careers. Create mini lab experiences for students based upon some of these research projects. For example, bring in various flowers to discuss plant structures while learning about polar pollinators. Create pretend core samples that students can analyze to simulate the procedure researchers use to analyze polar drill core samples. Identify basic science principles needed for better understanding about these projects. Unhangout is a free platform for connecting community-driven learning opportunities. Participants gather in the site's lobby at the time of the event, introduce themselves, and possibly view a short presentation or video together. After introductions, participants choose breakout rooms based on their interest. Breakout rooms hold up to ten participants at a time and open in a new tab so they can continue to add to the main chat if desired. Within the breakout rooms, conversations focus on a common topic and include options for members to use their webcam to discuss topics, view videos together, or work on a shared document. Following the event, participants receive an email with a transcript of the event and email contacts of fellow participants. Create your event by logging into your account and adding information including date, time, and additional hosts if desired. Other options enable you to set privacy options, allow follow-up emails, and provide for a custom URL.
In the Classroom
Unhangout offers many opportunities for classroom use and professional use. Use this site to introduce a topic, for example, the Civil War. After your initial introduction and discussion, enhance learning and ask students to choose a breakout session based on their interest - perhaps causes of the Civil War, battles, Civil War leaders, and cities. Within these sessions, have students share ideas on the focus of their learning and discuss how to divide up research and sharing of information. After the session, as students conduct their research, have them share resources using a collaborative Wakelet, reviewed here, stretching everyone's learning. Wakelet is a free bookmarking tool for sharing videos, documents, online resources, and more in an easy to view format. As students gather information, modify learning and use Timeline JS, reviewed here. Timeline JS offers the option to upload and add photos, videos, audio, Tweets, and Google Maps. After sharing group projects, challenge students to redefine their learning and share with their peers in a multimedia presentation using one of the many TeachersFirst Edge tools, reviewed here. In the Classroom
Use this site when discussing climate change or habitat destruction. View the live feeds and note the characteristics that polar bears have and research the difference between them and every other type of bear. Discuss these similarities and differences when discussing animals structures, adaptations, classification or characteristics of living things. Write stories about a polar bear's life, create a campaign to save endangered species, and recognize other threatened species near where you live. Be sure to investigate the lesson plans by clicking on the Take Action buttons. Most of the lesson plans aim to inform and to prevent destruction of the polar bear's habitat in the Arctic. In primary grades, have the class keep a basic observation journal at a polar bear center where they can watch the webcam and record what they see. Consider sharing several different animal cams for students to gain practice at observation.

Find free music for YouTube video backgrounds with Thematic. Thematic offers a large variety of content shared by original artists for free use on YouTube, Instagram, and other platforms. Browse the site to find or filter by genre, mood, tempo, and more. Save and organize selected music for your projects or download to your computer as an mp3 file. Copy the included information to credit the file's author within your presentation. Use your Google account to register as a content creator and connect your YouTube and other social media accounts.
In the Classroom
As you introduce this site to students, it is the perfect opportunity to remind students of the importance of providing proper credit when sharing media online. Share a link to Thematic on your class website for students to use when creating video presentations (with proper credit, of course). Ask students to create a slideshow using Renderforest, reviewed here, or other presentation software as a substitute for a written book report or research paper. For example, as students learn about states of matter ask them to find images on a sharing site like UnSplash, reviewed here, demonstrating the different properties and transformation of matter. Have students add text information to their slides and upload their slide presentation to YouTube as a video including background music found on Thematic. Be sure to have students include a slide with credits for all images and music included in their video. Geniventure is a gamified, engaging way to explore genetics by breeding and studying virtual dragons. The site is developed by The Concord Consortium, a nonprofit educational research organization. Geniventure includes both online and offline activities. Students play through six levels of challenges, conducting simulated experiments that generate realistic and meaningful genetic data. A free account is required and includes a full teacher guide that tracks student progress and provides teaching strategies.
In the Classroom
Geniventure is free and easy for teachers to use. You can create classes, assign activities, save student work, and track student progress. Sessions couple online gameplay with hands-on activities and labs conceptually linked to a part of the Geniventure game. All materials for Geniventure sessions are available, including daily session schedules, activity outlines lesson plans, PowerPoint slides, lists of materials for each activity, and support for English as a New Language/English Language learners (ENL/ELL). The materials are targeted toward middle school students, but can also be used in higher grade levels.Comments

If your students create ME-portfolios to showcase their work to colleges or potential employers, embedding is a must. Link to this site from your class web page of general resources to help today's tech-savvy students learn how to embed from various applications. Provide this link on your class website, wiki or blog for students (and parents) to access at school and at home. YiNote is a Chrome browser extension allowing users to take notes while watching online videos. After installing the extension, click the icon in your browser bar while viewing any video to bring up a box for adding notes. YiNote adds a time stamp to match the place in the video of saved notes. Return at anytime and click on your notes to go directly to that point in the video. One-click sharing allows the option to share notes via a direct URL or through links to social networking sites.
In the Classroom
After installing the YiNote extension, add notes to any online video then share with students for viewing as part of your flipped classroom lessons. Use with videos that may be too long otherwise; have students go directly to relevant portions of videos and view with your guidance supplied in the note portion. Include a note for any video you ask students to watch, then have them share their answers in an online bulletin board creator, such as Padlet, reviewed here. This tool is a terrific online photo editing and paint app. No account or registration is necessary. Upload a picture or find the URL of a photo from online or Facebook. Re-size, flip, rotate, crop, or alter the exposure, saturation, and contrast. Use additional features such as fix image, smart blur, and reflections. Use even more effects such as a cartoonizer, artistic painting, or wanted photo. You will love the retouch section which features the standard red-eye and blemish fix, along with teeth whitening. Add captions or text to the pictures with a wide selection of fonts. You can also create collages, but you must enable local storage of images on your computer. The Painter section includes standard pen, brush, erase with a sponge, and burn effects to allow for drawings on the pictures. In the Classroom
Use this tool anytime that photos need to be edited for use on class blogs, wikis, or sites. Encourage students to use on images for projects or presentations. Use the editor to edit pictures to fit styles of pictures when doing historical reports or to set a mood. Use caption bubbles for the photos themselves to tell the stories. Annotate offers several tools that allow educators to use their whiteboards while remaining completely mobile in the classroom. Use the projection feature to project information from a mobile device onto your whiteboard from anywhere in the room. Free plans offer up to two hours of sharing daily. Add the optional extension to Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge browsers to annotate web pages, take screen captures, and highlight online information. Enroll up to ten students in a course to allow students to follow your screen on their device. Once you create a class, use Annotate to live stream information, take assessments, and schedule homework. Annotate also has a built-in graphing calculator that is handy for math instructors.

Do you need "out of this world" images? NASA provides images, video, and audio for non-commercial use, free. Browse through the newest uploads or most popular items to get an idea of included items. If looking for specific topics, use the search bar to locate material by keyword, then use the filters to narrow down by the type of content desired. All items include a link to download to your computer along with links to share by URL or with social media. Be sure to check out the Media Usage guidelines for complete details on the usage of the site's content.
In the Classroom
Include this site with your other bookmarks for images and space-related content. Use Symbaloo, reviewed here, to share all of your space bookmarks in one easy to find location. This NASA site is an excellent resource for finding images to use with creative writing prompts; display an interesting image from the site for student storytelling lessons. Exchange paper and pen writing journals, and share their writing using Edublog, reviewed here. As students learn about space topics, ask them to find an image on this site then use Image Annotator, reviewed here, to enhance their learning by annotating the image with text, video, and web links to additional information. Extend student learning by having students create a video presentation about space using a video creation tool like Typito, reviewed here. Wooclap takes smartphones into the classroom for use as an interactive learning tool. Use Wooclap to ask multiple-choice questions, polls, and ask students to locate areas on images. Use the messaging feature to gather and display messages from participants. Wooclap also features options for add-ins to include PowerPoint Slides, Google Slides, PDF's, and more. Free Wooclap accounts allow users two questions for up to 1,000 students; however, it is free for educators in K12 by following the directions found here. Create an account to begin, then add an event. Choose the type of activity from the provided options such as a poll, open-ended question, word cloud, and more. Share your activity using the event code or link created for it.
In the Classroom
Use Wooclap to engage students in learning while gathering feedback in real-time. Start a lesson by asking students to respond to a prompt about the upcoming information. For example, at the beginning of a math lesson on geometric shapes, share a picture, and ask students to share a thought on what they see in the image. Use the poll feature as an exit ticket and ask students to share their comfort level in understanding the lesson. Are you finding that your students are losing interest in a topic? Discover the uses and challenges for rivers throughout the United States! This organization has a record of protecting and restoring rivers. Find your region of the US under My Regions. Find Regional Projects and News about environmental issues. Click on What We Do to read about initiatives the group works on in the various areas. Find a current Most Endangered Rivers list. Also, see the slide shows for Featured Rivers. There is an engaging three-minute video about why one child loves the Northwest's Rivers. It is hosted on YouTube. If your district blocks YouTube, the video may not be viewable.

Waterways are an important resource for wildlife, the economy, and recreation. Find great information about their usefulness on this site when discussing waterways with your class. Compare the various regions in terms of waterway use, conservation issues, and wildlife. Use a tool like Calemeo, reviewed here, and this site to create a recreation pamphlet outlining the highlights of different waterways. Bring a local water expert into the class to talk about water resources. Find inspiration for helping a local waterway. This would be a great activity for an ambitious class, environmental club, gifted students, or those looking for community service.
