ZeroGPT offers a suite of artificial intelligence (AI) tools, including a plagiarism checker, chat, summarizer, spell checker, citation generator, and more. Select a tool from the left side of the chat box, then type in text, upload a document, or paste text to begin. Registration isn't required but allows you to save and access your history. Free plans include up to 15,000 characters in AI detection, 1,500 in the AI Summarizer, 300 words in the paraphraser, and 1,000 prompts in ZeroChat-4.

In the Classroom
Use ZeroGPT for several purposes, including checking student work for AI-written content with the AI detector tool. However, caution should be exercised, as not all information provided by AI tools is accurate. The AI checker gives you a percentage likelihood that the content is either written by AI or a human. This site should be used as part of a qualified educator's overall evaluation of work and not as a sole means of evaluation. If students use AI to create writing projects, images, or media, teach them to use the citation generator to provide credit for using AI in their work.You must be registered and logged in to add items to your favorites.

The PDF lesson plan from Carnegie Mellon University introduces students to copyright issues, defines new terms, emphasizes illegal actions that could occur when using information from the Internet, and provides guidance on safe practices for searching and using information online. It includes learning objectives and materials for teachers to use with students.
In the Classroom
In addition to the existing lesson plan, in small groups, have students use FreeComicMaker.com, reviewed here to create comics featuring heroes who respect copyright laws and villains who disregard them. This project encourages creativity and application of knowledge in a new context extending learning. Then, organize a virtual gallery walk for students to view each group's comics. Utilize a quiz program like Kahoot, reviewed here and use the information from the lesson to create a quiz that focuses on different aspects of copyright. Have students create their own Legal or Illegal trading card utilizing Trading Card Creator, reviewed here.
This resource requires PDF reader software like Adobe Acrobat.

Both images are similar in appearance; however, shadowing provides subtle depth to the icon. Browse through the site to find available icons such as plants, classroom items, and much more. Click on any image to select the free version download. After selecting a download, images are downloaded to your computer in a zip file. Open the zip file to view and use the PNG image file.

Use images from this collection with any digital projects, and be sure to share with students to use with their digital creations. Investigate and recreate wild weather with these simple experiments explained in short videos. Four five-minute videos demonstrate how to create avalanches, dust storms, floods, and tornadoes. Each video discusses the weather phenomenon and how it naturally occurs. After the explanation, videos include instructions for recreating the weather presented using items commonly found at home.
In the Classroom
Include these short weather videos as part of any weather unit, then perform the experiments together in class. Challenge cooperative learning groups to create videos of their experiment and share them on a site such as TeacherTube, reviewed here. Have students use a mapping tool such as Zeemaps, reviewed here, to create a map with locations vulnerable to different types of extreme weather. The New Bedford Whaling Museum focuses on the impact of the whaling industry and specifically the interaction between whaling and the port of New Bedford, Massachusetts. Of interest to those studying one of the 18th and 19th century's leading industries, the museum also offers insight into the material culture of New England, the life and habitat of whales, and the craft of ship building.
The site offers a closer look at a number of current and past special exhibits, as well as a searchable database of artifacts in the current collection. Don't miss the special reading lists and other resources.
In the Classroom
The museum's exhibits focused on the Arctic and on the migrations and habitats of whales are useful from a historical perspective. Consider using early maps and photographs from the exploration of Arctic regions to compare with current maps for a discussion on global climate change. Use information about current and past whale habitats to illustrate the impact of ocean changes on the largest of its inhabitants. Students doing independent research will find the individual images of the museum's extensive collection useful as well. Have students act as curators for an imaginary special exhibit, perhaps creating a map using MapHub, reviewed here, to add points of interest with display markers featuring text, photos, and videos. to show the artifact locations and tell the stories of their "artifacts." Do you know that shrimp and cockroaches are related? Do you know that they run at the equivalent of 200 mph? Learn about these facts and more at this site devoted to understanding one of the least-liked insects in our world. In addition to a variety of short articles, this site shares several guides to drawing the different parts of the cockroach life cycle.
In the Classroom
This site is just gross enough to capture the interest of many students. Use the resources on the site to engage students in learning about insect life cycles. Take advantage of tools found at Class Tools, reviewed here, such as the Telescopic Topic feature to create a list of facts learned about cockroaches. Use the drawing guides to help students create and share life cycle drawings. Share information found on the site to encourage students to learn more about different insects and animals by comparing their life cycle, habitat, and characteristics with cockroaches. Enhance student learning by asking them to take the role of an amateur entomologist and share what they learn about insects using Image Annotator, reviewed here, to create annotated images of their insect with links to text, videos, and more. FlexClip, reviewed here, would also be a good tool to enhance learning by creating a video detailing information about their chosen bug.
