This very simple site, created by an anonymous puzzle-lover, is a treasury for logic problems and lateral thinking puzzles to use in your classroom or beyond. Click on the puzzle type you want. Use them as brain warm-ups in a math or science class before venturing into problem-solving or inquiry process or simply to engage the brains before starting any activity. There are different levels of logic and different types of lateral thinking puzzles, each with a hint before revealing the complete answer. These puzzles would also be useful for gifted enrichment.
In the Classroom
If you don't have time to spend on these in class as often as you would like, print out a single lateral thinking or logic problem each week for your bulletin board and let the students argue about it all week. Or include this link on your teacher website for the students to access outside of class. The a la carte lesson format makes it easy to use lessons individually or as a complete oral health unit. Animations and games/puzzle section are geared for the younger grades. The appropriate age levels for each of the sections are clearly labeled. There are also sections on dental careers.
In the Classroom
Provides comprehensive lesson plans with links to student worksheets that can be printed. Website is available in Spanish. Use a projector to show parts of the website to the whole class or use as a center for small groups of students.

Through hands-on, interactive games and animations, this site tackles subjects that are often considered too advanced for elementary students and presents them simply and concisely.A la carte style menu lets you pick and choose subject areas that relate to your classroom. You can even download a Spaceplace podcast. A Spanish version of the full site is available.
In the Classroom
There is a special section for teachers that offers printable pictures for the classroom and classroom activities. Use the menus or search function to find extenxsion topics for your regular curriculum, such as "What Batteries Will Last Until Your Old Age?" when studying electricity, and share them on a projector or as a classroom center during that unit. Encourage budding scientists by making this site available on your classroom computer all the time or sharing it on your teacher web site. Play the Space Place Musings podcast as students wait for their bus. The full site provides enrichment or home activities for kids and parents, too.

Use the on the left, click Science Snacks A-Z to see the entire collection or click Special Collections to find themed snacks like Snack With Videos, Science Snacks for K-5, Science Snacks to Celebrate Woment in Math and several other topics. While some projects require more elaboate supplies and equipment, others are fairly simple.
In the Classroom
Try this link when you need a hands-on illustration to a principle in your curriculum. If you have gifted students, you may want to share this link with their parents for some at-home enrichment, as well. Ask students to choose a snack from the A-Z list that is of interest to them (let "like-minded" students work together). Created in California, teachers in other regions will likely need to make some adjustments to some of the materials, but the site contains extensive resources for teachers to use in constructing their own lessons based on the gardening experience.
In the Classroom
There are some great interdisciplinary opportunities here, but teachers will need to work thoughtfully to adapt the raw materials to local circumstances. Consider sharing information from this site with your school's parent/teacher organization to gain support and possible funding for a garden project. Gardening is a perfect topic for student blogs.
